The Climate NI Assistant role is at the heart of a vibrant team which is a leader in climate action in NI. The role is varied and challenging, dealing with emerging climate change concepts, while supporting delivery of the multi-layered Climate NI work programme and a range of other climate projects. It requires a driven, curious, and collaborative approach. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop personal skills such as team working, and event facilitation as well as climate change specific skills such as adaptation and mitigation toolkit development. You will also gain valuable experience working in the secretariat for the Climate NI Steering Group at a time when Northern Ireland is seeking the best way forward to meet the challenges of climate change under the recent Climate Change Act (NI) 2022. This is a climate job unlike any other in Northern Ireland. If you are up for the challenge, we look forward to hearing from you. The successful candidate will:

  • Lead on communicating complex climate issues to a range of diverse audiences across Climate NI’s online platforms.

  • Help produce resources, case studies and sector specific information E.g. NI Adapts Planning Toolkit.

  • Promote and support the use of Climate NI toolkits and resources, such as the design and delivery of Climate Change Training.

  • Support Climate NI Steering Group and sector groups, including secretariat duties.

  • Organise events (online/in-person workshops, seminars, conferences).

  • Work with Climate NI staff and networks/sector groups to fulfil the Climate NI Work Programme.

  • Contribute to delivery of other NIEL Climate NI Team projects when needed.

  • Deputise for other Climate NI staff when needed.
