GIS Consultant – Education - what will you be doing?

Reporting to The Head of Higher Education, you will help us reimagine GIS in Higher Education.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Applying the ArcGIS System to promote Modern GIS across Higher Education.

  • Supporting educators to access and use ArcGIS in their teaching.

  • Engaging, advising and partnering with researchers to enable research through spatial thinking with ArcGIS.

  • Creating innovative and engaging learning materials to support users for both face-to-face engagement and e-learning.

  • Collaborating with other Esri UK Teams to develop additional resources to support our customers learning, software adoption and growth.

  • Keeping up to date with changes to the ArcGIS system, understanding how it can be applied to solve problems.

  • Encourage the use of emerging technology & techniques, such as AI, Deep learning, Big Data, Python and R, to aid both teaching and research.

  • Developing visible career paths for students to be inspired to follow which highlight customer success in our industry.

This would be a great career move if you have:

  • A strong working knowledge of the ArcGIS System (essential) and a passion for GIS & Remote Sensing.

  • A master’s degree, or undergraduate degree and equivalent experience. We are keen to consider candidates with a range of experience and diversity is important to us. 

  • Experience of deploying code to solve geospatial problems and a knowledge of how this is used in academia.

  • Python coding and / or JavaScript experience and the ability to work with large datasets.

  • Good relationship building skills, with the ability to communicate and influence people.

Because of the types of data and clients we work with, all our positions require successful candidates to undergo a basic security clearance and to have current, unrestricted entitlement to work in the UK.

  • Flexibility / Hours – Whilst this is a permanent full time role working Mon-Fri, we are also happy to consider part time applicants.   • Development - you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills via a wide range of learning opportunities and get involved supporting our wider business too.
