GIS Technician, NIE Networks


Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE Networks) is the owner of the electricity transmission and distribution networks in Northern Ireland, transporting electricity to over 910,000 customers including homes, businesses and farms.

NIE Networks utilises Geographic Information System (GIS) platforms to digitise and maintain the electrical network. GE Smallworld is used to record and display NIE Networks’ Geographic Network Information System (GNIS) overhead and underground assets against an Ordnance Survey map background. GNIS is a core system used across NIE Networks business units to plan new works and record any additions or alterations to the electricity network. G/Technology is used to update and maintain the High Voltage (HV) Schematic Diagrams. G/Technology includes NIE Network’s connected model which interfaces with the Network Management System (NMS). Therefore, is critical that its records are maintained and updated within established timeframes and they comply with standard policies and procedures. We are seeking to appoint a GIS Technician within our Asset, Systems and Data department, to join the team at our Belfast office.
