Graduate Environmental Scientists, JBA, Dublin

We are Interviewing Now for Graduate Environmental Scientists!


The Position - permanent full-time

JBA is an independent employee-owned company with an enviable reputation for delivering high

quality and outcome-focused environmental and engineering services. We are currently seeking

an enthusiastic Environmental consultant with 0-2 years post graduate consultancy

experience to join our growing environmental management team. The post holder will support

the expansion of our ecological and environmental services across Ireland, supporting projects

across a wide range of sectors and will be based in our Smithfield office in Dublin city

centre. Our current environmental workload includes input to Flood and Water management

projects plus assessment of effects of Residential, Commercial, Transportation, Forestry, and

Industrial development on sites throughout Ireland.


Responsibilities

The successful candidates will, amongst other things, be responsible for:

• Inputting to the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) Screening and

Scoping Documents, Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and EIAR coordination plus

general environmental reporting for input to our current projects and tenders;

• Provide support to members of the Environmental, Ecology, Water and Engineering Team;

• Engage with clients / sub-contractors / external stakeholders as necessary;

• Planning and undertaking site surveys and fieldwork, utilising a number of survey techniques;

• Writing technical reports and other outputs;

• Working with colleagues throughout JBA and liaising with clients; and

• Writing and reviewing technical reports and other outputs.


Qualifications

• Candidates will need a degree in an environmental science discipline (Minimum Level 8) and

experience in a specific environmental area such as Geography, Planning, Water quality, Marine

Science Geology, Earth Science;

• Graduate member of a relevant institute (CIEEM or CIEMA), or working towards membership;

• Excellent technical report writing skills;


Ideally (but not necessary) experience in the following:

• Knowledge and awareness of planning process and policy;

• Experience of designing, implementing and managing environmental mitigation schemes;

• Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver the objectives of large and complex

commissions.


Background interest

Given the nature of the role and the work carried out by JBA Consulting, it would be of advantage

if candidates have an understanding in some of the following areas:

• Project management;

• Understanding of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and Habitats Directive;

• Experience of wider environmental and sustainability issues;

• Knowledge and understanding of ecosystem services;

• Renewable energy project experience, River restoration techniques; and

• GIS and/or CAD experience.
