Ulster University (DARUG Research Project) School of Geography and Environmental Sciences, Cromore Road, Coleraine Reporting to: Professor Adrian Moore The Ulster University led DARUG research project consists of a multi-disciplinary research team working on the development of a data analytics and public participatory approach to better understand the risks of dementia in ageing. The team are developing novel classification models to identify predictors of cognitive dysfunction associated with ageing and aim to identify effective dietary and lifestyle intervention options that promote cognitive health and wellbeing amongst ageing populations. This placement opportunity will involve working within the DARUG research team to:
• Develop a website for the project in order to provide an online presence and enable the research to be disseminated to a wider audience • Perform basic data analysis activities including data cleaning and pre-processing • Assist in the organisation of project events • Assist in the day-to-day running of the project • Liaise with members of the project team across a number of disciplines and organisations Main Duties Data Analysis: Data cleaning, data analysis including GIS spatial data analytics and mapping. Event Management: Assist in the organisation of project events. Project Management: Assist in the day-to-day running of the project, communication with the project team, progress reporting, general administrative duties as determined by the project lead. Essential Requirements Studying for a third level Geography, Environmental Science or related degree Experience of using ArcMap or ArcGis Pro software Proficient with MS Excel Strong problem-solving skills Experience of working in a team Excellent written and verbal communication skills Desire to build a career in the GIS and Geotech industry Desirable Requirements Data analysis skills using technologies such as MS Excel, SPSS or open source GIS programs Salary: Salary: based on £18,278 per calendar year (plus employer contribution to pension scheme) Please email CV and Covering letter to Adrian Moore: a.moore@ulster.ac.uk
